Following the introduction of the new lockdown restrictions, we have closed the Bridging the Tamar visitor centre and our customer service office reception facilities at both crossings to the public. This is in line with Government guidance on closing all non-essential services.
As in the previous lockdowns, queries from service users or the wider public will be dealt with by our customer service staff via email, the Tamar Crossings website or by phone. Drop boxes continue to be available at both crossings for people needing to return tags.
There are no changes to the tolling arrangements in place at the two crossings which meet all the Covid secure guidance set out by the Government.
All tag account holders are asked to check that their tags are correctly located in their vehicles and are registered to the vehicle they are using before using the crossings.
Drivers at the bridge also have the option of using contactless card payments, with social distancing tools available for people paying by cash. Anyone choosing to pay by cash is asked to ensure that they have the correct money to keep personal contact with toll booth staff to an absolute minimum.
All toll collectors continue to wear face coverings and gloves in accordance with Government regulations and will continue to comply with social distancing guidance. Collectors are also using social distancing tools to ensure the safe collection of cash, with Lane F (on the south side of the ferry) identified for use by motorcyclists and cyclists to enable reasonable distancing.
All foot passengers are expected to follow the Government’s requirements to wear face coverings while travelling on public transport, and drivers, motorcyclists and cyclists continue to be expected to remain with their transport. Anyone leaving their vehicle to enter the passenger areas must also wear a face covering.
We want to maintain a working and service environment that is as close to normal as possible for everyone’s benefit. We will, of course, be monitoring and reviewing the situation closely to enable us to make changes as, and if, required.
