The past two weeks have seen the completion of the resurfacing on the toll plaza and bridge approaches. This has been completed during night lane closures using traditional tarmac construction techniques and materials…
The existing surfacing materials were planed out to a depth of 100mm by VolkerLaser crews before being relayed. We also took this opportunity to micro plane off the concrete areas between each toll booth, finally surfacing the whole area with either a buff or red anti skid material, with all lining replaced on a like for like basis.
Preparation works have continued on the final section of steel deck of the bridge. This has included removing the old tarmac and then blasting the steel to remove any remaining surfacing material.
The primer coat has also been completed, with the waterproofing layers now being applied before the return of the specialist surfacing contractor towards the end of next week for the final stage of the process.
