TamarTag
In 2005 the decision was made by the Tamar Bridge and Torpoint Ferry Joint Committee to introduce a system that would give our customers a more reliable and efficient service when crossing the River Tamar.
The TamarTag tolling system was introduced in late 2006 in the hope of relieving customer worries about payments, giving them a stress free, time saving gateway to their onward destination. The aim was to stop the use of the voucher, reduce the need for cash and interaction on both crossings, therefore easing congestion and getting our customers away faster. The Tag itself is a small device, smaller than a matchbox that is placed on your windscreen (just behind the mirror) that is read either by a collectors handheld machine on the ferry or the laser scanner at the Bridge Toll Booth.
They are prepaid, a bit like the old style mobile phone system, you top up your account and the toll monies are deducted from your remaining credit every time you cross. You just top it up as and when you need to.
If you choose to join the TBTF family and obtain your own TamarTag you will not only have the ease of crossing faster but reap in the benefits of discounted crossings too, as tag customers pay less than cash payers.
If you have any questions on the Tamar Tag itself please visit our FAQ’s. Here we have tried to answer the day to day questions we have received, but if there is anything we have missed please call us on 01752 361577 and one our Customer Service Team will be able to assist.
All that is required from yourself it to complete the Application Form . Just complete all the sections on this form and return it to us at either the Bridge or Ferry office.
We aim to get the tags out to you as quick as possible and once you receive it you can cross the bridge cash and worry free, just keep the account topped up.
