Philip Robinson, currently the Service Director for Street Services in Plymouth City Council (PCC), has been appointed as the new Chief Officer for Tamar Crossings. His appointment follows the retirement of former General Manager David List at the end of last year. Philip is due to take up his new role at the beginning of July.
As well as leading the largest department in Plymouth City Council, with more than 500 staff, Philip is also one of the service directors supporting the Joint Chairs of the Tamar Bridge and Torpoint Ferry Joint Committee and has extensive experience of working with Tamar Crossings.
“With family and friends on both side of the Tamar, the crossings have played a key role in my life over the last 35 years. I am excited at the prospect of being able to help shape their future – both in terms of modernisation and financial sustainability, and ensuring they continue to support the growth agendas of both Cornwall and Plymouth. We will all have a part to play in delivering this”.
“I recognise that David List will be a hard act to follow. However, I have been fortunate to have worked alongside David for the last 5 years and know that he has been supported by an excellent team – both at the Tamar Bridge and Torpoint Ferry.”
“I am looking forward to working with stakeholders, partners, staff and local communities on both sides of the river to secure the long-term future of the crossings and develop a new way forward for funding and operating the Tamar Bridge and Torpoint Ferry”.
