Readers will be well aware of the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus and the subsequent confirmed cases in the UK. We take the health and safety of all our service users, staff and the wider public very seriously. We have a number of contingency plans in place to manage the situation and ensure that we can continue to provide safe, reliable and efficient crossings of the River Tamar for all users.
Following the latest guidance from Public Health England we will be temporarily closing the Visitor and Learning Centre with effect from today ,18 March 2020. We are also asking service users with any queries to contact us via phone or email rather than coming to the Bridge or Ferry offices in person.
The majority of our customers use our TamarTag electronic payment system to pay for their crossings and that obviously eliminates any personal contact at the toll booths. For those customers paying with cash, we would encourage them to have the correct change ready which not only speeds up transactions but also reduces any risk associated with cash handling both for them and for our toll staff.
We are monitoring the situation very closely and are following guidance from the Government. We will continue to provide regular updates on the website and via our social media channels.
