We have been working around the clock to install the contactless card payment system at the bridge to co-incide with the resumption of tolling. Unfortunately there is still some work to do to ensure that the system is in place and working properly which means it will not now be available on Monday morning.
We are working with our contractor to finalise the installation as quickly as possible and expect the system to be in place towards the end of the coming week. In the meantime people paying by cash can use the social distancing measures which have been provided to enable staff in the toll booths to safely process cash. Drivers of cars and higher vehicles such as SUVs, coaches and HGVs can safely deposit their coins and notes into a cup and handle tool allowing both driver and collector to maintain a distance of more than two metres.
All collectors will have mobile screens and we will are installing additional booth side letterboxes/chutes in the side of each booth and mobile screens.
