Engineers have been carrying out inspections on the deck of the south cantilever today to identify any surface repairs which need to be carried out. Once these inspections have been completed, welding will be carried out to repair any damaged areas.
As the same time the ‘rubber duck’ ( the rubber wheeled digger) has continued to remove remaining material from the north cantilever, together with a mobile sweeper which is being used to cleanse the drainage kerbs.
As previously reported, the works on the cantilevers remain on schedule, with Phase 1 currently programmed to last until end of July. The North cantilever will then be returned as a general traffic lane for the remainder of the project. At the same time South cantilever will be opened to westbound traffic.
Thank you to everyone who is continuing to follow the overhead signs during lane priority changes, and to pedestrians and cyclists who are using the shuttle service to cross the bridge.
